What your quote implies is that you will never find a one-armed economist, because they always say “ on one hand xxxxxxxxx, but on the other xxxxxx” In layman’s terms, if economists are so smart then why do they still need to work for a living?

Just reading through this thread, I happened to see the comments in your final para. of your post of 12 May “80c has not been seen since well before the days of a free floating exchange rate”
I can assure you that the Aussie traded well above 80c for at least a year after our currency was floated back in December 1983.
