I must admit I bleeped over the phrase 'Government arête'. I have now looked up the word, for which some sources say there is no exact English equivalent. The nearest meanings are 'virtue' or 'moral excellence', although one scholar usefully imputed some measure of 'divinity'.
As you would expect from an optimist, I now take the sentence very positively. Given the excellent relationship between FAR and the Government, it seems to me the Government has assured FAR it will not be unduly pressured into declaring its intentions for Djiffere: It will be at the Government's divine pleasure. Some will argue that just adds another delay. I reckon it secures a highly prospective block in which we hold a 75 per cent interest.
