Where I come from, the five faculties are 1. faith. 2. effort. 3. mindfulness. 4. concentration (unified consciousness) . 5. wisdom/insight.

A corpse has eye, ear, nose, skin and tongue.

A dog or a frog have sight sound smell taste touch and taste.

For a living human being, the reality of the world is influenced by perception and mind, which are often under the power of ignorance.
