Hartnell is a very good horse and he run a really good Melbourne Cup.

If you watch the replay of the Cup the first 3 are all together around the 350m mark.

To understand the difference between good stayers and a middle distance horse watch how high Hartnell`s holds his head compared to the other two. Hartnell is probably the superior animal but gets left because he does a couple of things wrong.

A green light flashes for this punter when I can eliminate the two heavily backed favorites. My wife told me Oceanographer couldn`t back up after I had backed him. If had listened to her and trainer Appleby more I could have eliminated 3 favs.

Oceanographer run 3 races last year now 3 times in two weeks. Pity I couldn`t see that 48hrs ago .lol.
