Two types of investors in the eyes of the ATO, one is an investor and the other is a trader.
An investor in basic terms is someone trading too make a extra money on the side of their passive income. Not much if anything is a tax deduction for investors.
A trader on the other hands is using the sharemarket as their primary income, so anything that the trader needs to do in order to make his investments/business more profitable would be classed as an deduction. Any new computers, internet access, electricity, brokerage reports, share subscriptions, charting software etc.. etc.. are certainly tax deductions for traders. I imagine someone visiting any Eden plants/offices etc to further their research in the company could deduct those expenses, but the advise would be better coming from an tax agent or accountant, as I am neither.
