People think Trump has some whack ideas, however, what he is saying is what the majority of people think. He just articulates it, whereas other politicians skirt around issues for fear of not being politically correct, racist, etc. I'm surprised corporate US didn't come out more in support of his corporate tax cut and import tax increase. They probably feared retaliation.
