As a US-Australian citizen, I have family and friends back home in the US who, despite an obvious macro-influenced erosion of their standard of living, get on with it and still demonstrate a genuinely strong, supportive, culturally and socioeconomically diverse community. They work in the schools and in the hospitals, particularly - every day they work hard, and for everyone. They love home, and they love visiting me here.
I won't comment about Trump, Clinton, Obama, dot dot - nor will I ask who my family and friends have voted for. Nor will I comment on our Australian government's track record (including the S+Ts).
The only thing more I have to say is that I've always enjoyed HotCopper until recently - posting charts and discussing stocks (good and awful). But now, in pretty much every thread I visit, someone who I follow or admire pings in a comment on the generalised idiocy of Americans.
My family and friends in the schools, hospitals, restaurants, etc don't show even a hint of the 'divided America' the mass overseas and local media keep shoving in our face. They live in a community and they look after that community. And remember that irrelevant fringe groups arrange the media visits for the soundbite. I don't know anyone protesting, nor would they - because they understand the election process ('it is what it is') and they're tired from, you know, working all day.
I can't wait until everyone's over it...
