today tonight re ethanol, page-3

I watched this report and was initially concerned about the announcement - "and next we take a look at the ongoing ethanol saga, and what damage does it reaaly cause"....I thought that this was going to be a real ouch factor, but than as the report came on - the facts all pointed to this trial in North Queensland being far more successful than could have been hoped for...even by optimists like myself.
Caltex was staggered by the early results, already 25% of all fuel chosen was E10. There are 4 more months to go and now Caltex believes that this figure of 25% will continue to increase.
Indepentend research reports on ethanol, run in conjunction with this trial, have found no evidence at all as to possible harm to engines at E10 levels - and point to the fact of E10 being used with no reported engine damage, for over 20 yrs in the US and Europe.
I think the oil majors will have to conceed, E10 is save and not only environmentally friendly - but also E10 will bring a boost to local rural economy.
The federal government have pushed out their official decision on ethanol for some time now, but I agree with juz50 - the carrot will turn into a stick if the oil majors keep running smear campaigns.
Juz 50 points to the fact that ico is in a good position to take advantage of the situation, and yes it would be very cheap and affordable for a major oil player to either align with or take control of ico.
Is this going to happen? who knows. Would it be financially and strategically sound? ...you have to answer this for yourself.

    I hold ico.

    cheers,
