That's a lovely exponential curve there. The thing about exponentials is that they have a way of creeping up on you. According to that report, wind grew by 16.9% last year. If that were to continue as a compound rate of growth, wind would be generating 100% of current world electricity capacity in about 22 years. Meanwhile, solar grew by a gobsmacking 33% last year. At that rate, that paltry 1.1% of world capacity becomes 100% in just 16 years.

Not saying these growth rates are going to continue compounding like this - at some rate supply constraints have to kick in - but your post is shockingly naïve for someone on a forum that's ostensibly about economics.

It won't be able to continue to grow exponentially until something is done about storage to overcome the intemittancy, not to mention the high cost of renewable energy which will further increase when the cost of storage is added in.
