Nooch, agreed a company can produce something under a licencing agreement, that's how most companies work, the  automotive industry, or Apple and Samsung are good examples of this. I did not state that this was not the case.

But on the flip side companies look to acquire strategic holdings  in companies, it is the way of the world.

One example of many in the mergers and acquisition space per bellow:

In my mind a merger or takeover (partial takeover) of FBR could be of significant interest to major manufacturers. Per the PDF from the AGM, FBR has been talking to major manufacturers in the US.

I read farmlife's post 25/11/16 14:56:39 which said " do they expect someone to come on board"  in relation to a partial change to the constitution. To which I thought, there was a change to the constitution to allow a partial takeover. Following this I looked for information to confirm Farmlife's posts, but I could not find anything. Hence I put the question to this thread in an attempt to get clarification. My initial thoughts based on pure speculation were that a manufacturing firm could be looking to acquire a stake in FBR.

But thanks to Adent, doing his due diligence i found out that there was a change to the constitution on pages of 20 & 21 http://www.asx.com.au/asxpdf/20161021/pdf/43c5nwmt3wvpp2.pdf , which make it harder for a partial takeover to occur, thanks Adent.

So in summary, it is now harder for a partial takeover to occur, which is disappointing because I wanted a spike in the share price. Yes agreed, that someone does not necessarily need to acquire a stake in FBR. But if you research mergers and acquisitions, it is commonplace for a large company to acquire a stake in new technology that will be beneficial to the bottom line of the company, and in my mind the technology of FBR would be of particular interest, as I believe it is the way of the future.
