Competition is hotting up in the, shall we call it, small grid with renewables integration and support ?
Carnarvon has for several years had a problem with too much solar power on the local small grid leading to substantial daytime curtailment of feed-in for existing PV owners and denial of grid access for some new owners.
The Chinese approached Horizon Power to of add a 2 MW (actually MWhr?) battery to the Carnarvon local grid to both smooth out variations calling on expensive local diesel generators and reduce the overall demand for diesel in the evenings.
Australian firms such as CWE could do this but need financing. Where in Australia do you go to get low interest, long-term loans for this sort of thing?
