I can't fathom how shorting a company benefits anyone or creates wealth for the shareholders
If your super fund has shares in FMG I bet you would call foul when your members balance declines
I would rather see companies prosper, pay tax etc rather than their shares being manipulated
Then again that's my view as I try to invest based on fundamentals rather than look for opportunities to short a stock
That's why at the height of the GFC the practice was restricted
