Hey guys, question for the tech savvy in the crowd.

I'm looking at building/buying a new trading computer and not sure how how spec I should go. What's necessary and what's overkill? Any advice much appreciated.

I run Iress and spark all day long plus ProRealTime and sometimes NinjaTrader so definitely need a quad core I think. Also run all the standard stuff in the background, office, email, web, chat etc.

I want to go Intel i7, was looking at 6700k (prob overkill?)

I plan on running 3-4 monitors so obv need GPU to support but not sure how high end I'll need? Any advice on what ports are best HDMI or DVI etc?

I'm not a gamer but I don't want to have to upgrade the computer for another couple years ya know.

On a side note has anyone had any success running multiple monitors from a laptop using one of those USB to HDMI adapter things? Does that mean it would be running off of the integrated graphics card while the other one and the internal would run off of my GPU. Would the laptop struggle with all this? (i7 6500U, GeForce 940M, 8GB Ram)

    Cheers in advance
