OK...I'm looking more at the longer term direction, but S/T trades can certainly be profitable, but keep in mind , you're going against both the bearish momentum and trend i.e. counter trading, which has less satisfactory (unrewarding) risk / rewards ratios (which is ultimately what it;s all about..."quality" trades, not quantity, so to say.
Not to mention more risky (because it's counter).
i.e a short would be more profitable, for those obvious reasons.
Personally, I don't have an Acct which permits shorts, I have far more to learn on Forex and commodities (i.e. how the Market Makers and Central Banks operate, but I'm getting there...slowly, but it's possible), but it's the direction to which I will be "migrating"...when I learn some more....a lot to learn....predatory markets....shark-infested. I tried 15 years ago on CME (lived and worked in NY for many years), and was eaten alive....oil, gold, currencies etc. I know more now, but still not enough.
Cheers
