Pretty much the same as S&P 500, highly diversified (the whole market), pays Dividends, and not concentrated in a single Industry, let alone Sector (the ultimate in risk concentration)

Crude oil up (approx) 50% since Dec 31, 2015.
I could give more examples...anyone can....
One can make these comparisons ad infinitum.
I don't see it as useful, except to highlight the relative underperformance of gold to other Asset Classes and Commodities, after an initial stellar runup, and then subsequent collapse...and the year is not yet over.
