Nice to see a fairly balanced view of what in my view, is fast becoming a real alternative to the agenda driven, kick-back plagued "advisory" services.

Once people move beyond the ASX top 20 companies for investment, real "advice" come down to connections more than anything else.

For far too long it has been a cosy little "arrangement", where the average Joe gets offerred the scraps...or worse, are used as fodder to help bigger money out of a stock.

Of course this is not always the case, but more often than not, "advice" is far from unbiased.

At least those who are proactive enough to do-it-yourself can use places like HotCopper as something of a springboard for ideas, or places to look.

We have an invaluable and powerful tool at our disposal here...lol, not Clark Kent...and if we could somehow collectively harness that power, we would all benefit.

Imagine, 500 people all researching the sector, or stock, then reporting their findings...maybe in a matter of hours from the get-go!

Just need to have more people prepared to put in a genuine effort, rather than the handful that do it now while the vast majority sit back and freeload.
