Zen, somehow I suspect your use of "Mummy and Daddy" in place of "Mum and Dad" is intended as a put down ... please forgive me if I am wrong.
Mate, its not a case of who has the most money at time of death that wins. As a parent, why wouldnt you do anything to help your children if you could? There is not a lot wrong with a helping hand in my view.
We helped each of our children with a small portion of buying their first cars .... as distinct from buying them cars. If possible, I am sure we will make a small contribution to their first houses when the time comes.
