There is a shortage of farm workers in the US. They are looking here for workers for the harvest season. They are offering US$1500 / month or US$9 / hour.
These rates are less than what is being paid here for similar work in the agriculture industry, and far less than what is available for similar work in the mining industry.
Opponents of the recent IR laws have been protesting that the government wants wages here to be lowered to Asian levels, however it looks as if they have to be lowered to US levels first.
So where do we stand, are our wages too high, or is the US beating us to the punch by lowering their wages to Asian levels ahead of us?
