Comparing AJX to Tesla says it all to me. Absolutely totally different markets and vastly different challenges. What AJX says makes total sense. I don't see it as any admission of failure, I see it as a statement of demand for the highest standard to continue and to push to be even better to maintain their status ahead of the pack.
Of course it doesn't matter whether you have a disruptive technology (which they clearly have) or not, the competition will always be at your heels. And regardless there's plenty of market there to allow for multiple competitors.
I personally think you've completely misunderstood the message behind the statement.
