I agree that buzzwords like "big data" have been used inaccurately based on what has been shared with us.
But that doesn't mean that the data and reporting functionality integrated with the off-shoring service isn't ground-breaking or unique to the global financial planning industry. As far as i have found, even XPLAN or COIN don't offer practices and networks fully integrated, holistic reporting and analytics. And that is because even today's most advanced advice-giving business processes out there are disjointed and fracture across multiple technology systems including spreadsheets and other manually maintained source files. There is nothing that seamlessly organises everything we know about a client in one system built from the ground up, nothing that allows data to be extracted and reported through the entire end to end client experience and backoffice view of work happening, backlog, handle times and costs. Until now that is, and IAM can do it with the click of a button (I've seen it live).
I agree that the IAM products/services perhaps appear to be mispositioned or at least packaged in a way that looks strange to some of us who are not in the industry. But our execs are from the industry and I'm sure they know how to sell it to their peers. To me, it's primarily an offshoring service with secondary (compulsory) fintech addons to provide a fully integrated crm with reporting and analytics capabilities (klip) and automated tasks (lilly). And I'm happy to leave my understanding there and let Team IAM get on with the job. Getting an exact understanding of the ins and outs isn't going to make me more money trading IAM. As long as i know they have a genuine and unique service offering that is in high demand, i feel comfortable holding longer term.
