not that sort of new - a new system

Look at our present system - doesn't matter - Australia or US - for this example they are both similar enough.

Now take self drive vehicles - they are coming and they will be highly disruptive.

How long will our system take to get across most of the legislative changes and social changes that that one single technological change will bring?

    I suggest years.

Now - IMO - (and, yes, I am pulling figures out of my bum - but, it is guesswork only anyway) -

in say 20 to 50 years - there will be new technologies that will have as much social change and environment and system change as the change to self drive vehicles -

but, instead of that change taking - say 10 years (only a guess) -

I think those changes will come in months - maybe even weeks.

Now - would our present political systems and bureaucratic systems be able to cope with that?

Not a snowballs chance in hell.

Even now - I can see it is failing - I honestly think it is one of the reasons for such crap choice in people and policy - the entire system is going down - for a few reasons.

But, in the end - no matter what the reasons - to me - it indicates a new system is necessary.

At the very least - we need to recognize the speed of change that is coming right down the tunnel at us - and at least be open to start discussion on it.
