Quite a few self serving people have been calling for Australia to be run like a business, as if business methods are the cure all for everything.

If Australia has been run like a business, you won't see many public hospitals and sewerage facilities in rural Australia, and there won't be many paved roads as well. Why should a business-like government spend taxpayer money on infrastructure assets that will benefit only a few people in regional and rural Australia.
