Regarding TPG's entry into Singapore, because of Singapore's high population density and TPG's ease of access to Singapore government's HDB (government subsidised apartments) rooftops to build the towers, TPG should be able to reach breakeven point relatively quickly.
A quick search on google on population density gives me the following statistics:
Singapore: 7,797 people per square kilometre
NSW: 9.3 people per square kilometre
Victoria: 25 people per square kilometre
Greater Sydney: 380 people per square kilometre
Greater Melbourne: 440 people per square kilometre
Australia: 2.9 people per square kilometre
We can think of this project as similar to building a mobile network in Australia's major inner cities only, without the need to provide coverage in the suburbs and in the country area.
No wonder the smart Teoh grabs this opportunity by both hands.
