Changes to super this June 30 will be a big deal too.

Here is the last few lines from Gittens on "Risk".

"And here, I suspect, is the killer: the next time the economy turns down we'll see that the greater freedom Work Choices affords employers will permit them to shift the risk of recession - to some extent, at least - from business profits to workers' wages.

Firms will be better placed to shift their staff to a three- or four-day week or to insist that benefits and conditions be made less generous.

So profits will fall less while wages fall more. It's hard to see how this will cushion rather than accentuate the recession's effect."
