I also have no idea how much my analyst friends earn, I just know they are not all-seeing wizards who magically have access to financial information we don't about companies.
They are young, intelligent people who would rather be doing something else, but take the job as an entry level position in the bank
They don't even buy shares.
Not saying there aren't great researchers out there, but just because somebody has that title, it does not immediately grant them respect or authority- especially when they are so wrong so often.
The best bit is when they change their price assumptions AFTER the price has moved! I love that one. Happens all the time.
Did the big shot analysts you mentioned call the mining bust? I think we all know what the answer is there!
