Yes it is hard to see how on one hand we could consume less, but work more. I guess it could be achieved with say 0.5 days per week community service without pay?
Would this mean disengaging to some degree from a global economy, accepting lower pay to match lower productivity and more jobs? Where might a national surplus go?
Or, does everything go to shite if we tried to do this?
Imo, life is pretty pointless without a job and the degree of self sufficiency that follows. Why not work in some tailored, meaningful capacity into your mid 70's, health permitting?
If any are wondering where this streaming subconsciousness came from, it was from the sum of many posts today on HC Politics.
There seems to be a prevailing view that we can work less, pay for less, retain more and expect more as government is some kind of magic pudding. Imo, a majority are wanting what logically cannot be provided without some major technological, scientific or philosophical break through?

sorry pd but those of us that arent on the dole or some govt payout already work hard enough.
those who do not work shall not eat - from the bible
