If the BOD sold this asset for those amounts I would expect them all to be sued by shareholders if at all possible.
It is their duty to act in the best interests of shareholders.
It would be beyond preposterous to sell for that amount, because, why? They don't fancy turning into a mining company? There's plenty of things in most people's job they don't fancy doing. Leaving about a billion dollars on the table because they just don't fancy doing it is not really an option.
Seems simple enough to hire someone capable of bringing it to a mine as part of a JV if they don't possess that capability.
