Pray tell, how did we got into the mess originally in 2007? The problems didn't all of a sudden materialise our of thin air. Also explain to us why we need "global financial regulators" fixing anything at all? Way too much power in the hands of central bankers who have got themselves into a right mess because they thought they knew better. A lot like you.

The original mess in 2007 wasn't only caused by the bankers, they supplied the money for others to spend on cars, houses, new kitchens, overseas trips, local bodies spent up big, everyone thought it would never end.
It reminded me of the lunacy leading up to the 1987 crash, so I sold off a couple assets and reduced my debt to zero.
The FT warned about the excess for a couple of years and predicted serious consequences.
