Great research, love the urine option.... just crossed my mind the image of a bunch of guys donating urine... ha ha... disturbing!. I remember that someone also mentioned that QD's can be obtained from coffee, so competition will come and it is just a matter of time. The high cost of the QD's motivate new entrants to this sector and that is the reason why it is so relevant that DTZ gets a "foot in the door" through low cost production and start selling material volumes of it as soon as possible.

In terms of the competition mentioned, DTZ can produce 1 tonne of QD's for about USD250 plus overheads, so the question is how much cost would be getting the QD's from sugar cane ( I am not considering the urine option because... I cannot stop laughing) or coffee. The coffee option wouldn't be feasible because of the high cost of the beans unless you get it after it has been used, but the logistics would be very expensive. In regard of the sugar cane, this would require the QD's factory to be next to the raw material source due to the characteristics of the sugar cane left over (very bulky), I guess they would require to apply heat in the process to extract the dots..... the question would be what is the yield, I am confident that it would be much higher than the USD250 per tonne.
