Auditing, on a regular basis, should be done by an outside organisation employed to undertake this task. But if they did not allow some of those dodgy claims to pass, the parliament would sack them. Herein lies the problem. They are in charge. But the sacked body could at least whistle blow with greater authenticity. Politicians can determine their own wages, keep their generous defined benefit pension, tax free and risk free, while everyone else gets employed sans that pension these days. Gold card? Why? Because they can. Little wonder we don't give politicians our respect, just the opposite. They have worked very hard for our disrespect so we are only giving them their rights.
