Short-term I reckon AFG would fall but it would soon recover.

Most analysts seem to have targets on AFG of around $12.50-$13.50 not including the benefits of the QAN bid. I have read suggested targets in excess of $14 if the bid goes through as AFG will be able to increase their aircraft leasing at a faster rate than previously assumed.

So if the bid goes through I expect AFG to spike higher. If the bid doesn't go through I expect a spike lower which would be a great buying opportunity ni my view.

I actually wouldn't mind if the bid didn't succeed. I'm happy for AFG to lease aircraft but I'm not that keen on the idea of having $300m invested in a highly geared airliner.
