i agree with you, but i'd also add this:

I once heard Richie Benaud talking about the skills of captaining a cricket team and he said this 'captaincy is 90% luck, 10% skill, but don't ever try it without the 10% skill or you'll be a miserable failure'

i apply the same concept to the stock market, except, in my view, its 90% psychology, 10%, but again, don't bother without the 10% skill.

also, listen to the lyrics of a song called The Gambler by Kenny Rogers. If you can do what those lyrics suggest to polker, in the stock markets, you'll make millions!!
