Somebody in your religion came up with the idea that we do not have an immortal soul or spirit, so you then have no way of understanding the teachings of Jesus because they were given to elevate the human spirit.

Again I ask: 'Where did you get that idea from Darkroom'? The immortality of the soul concept that originated with Satan's lie (Genesis 3:4) clashes with the clearly expressed statement in the Bible.
