Criticism of the government over this disgusting affair is justified and warranted.
Not only have they failed to act over the last 5 years they have fully supported what has gone on and it is only since recent opinion polls that they have decided to make some token gestures to make out they actually even care.
I was all for Hicks facing a fair and open trial for what he has allegedly done but after 5 years if the US can not charge him and put him in front of a trial the only option left is to let the guy go.
If the case and evidence against hicks is so strong
Why after 5 years are they still stuffing around attempting to come up with some charges.
and
Why if the evidence is so strong do they need some newly invented tribunal system which by all accounts will fail to meet internaionally accept standards for a fair an open trial.
