The cobalt run that we all expected seems to be in full swing already, only a few weeks into the NY. There'll be pullbacks along the way but the key (like lithium) will be identifying the leaders that will go on with it for multi x returns. Finding decent cobalt deposits is no easy game, so I'll be looking for a" whole package" job; decent deposit, great register, strong mgmt, to give the best chance of getting it right.
Lithium will be stronger for longer imo (systemic risk, permitting). The qty of runners will be smaller, for sure, but there's opportunities there. ASN's upcoming lithium drilling for their new Utah project could easily yield RMX/WCP/GSC like returns. It has the added bonus of graphite, which has tested favourably for spherical type applications.

LPI is the other lithium company I think has large re-rate potential from the current mc. It's proven quite fortunate that a large and loosely run insto placement has coincided with continuously high grade drilling results and i took the chance to double down over the last week or two, once a trend change was confirmed. Once the JORC upgrade is released in H1, it's not inconceivable that LPI could be under the microscope from larger players, looking for strategic assets.
A couple of interesting articles to ponder:

Then there's other new energy style metals to consider. I've been buying AVL/O this year, waiting for the vanadium run to start. They also have an interesting lithium project and a high quality mgmt team to execute.
Seen some zinc runners of late and likely more to come (watch for shells with a connection to, or who allude to zinc, like DDD).
Manganese and nickel, other interesting ones I'm watching but don't hold any stocks, as yet.
ATC still a favourite in the MT spec stable. Aside from the application of their HPA into the growing LED market, most aren't aware of its use in the coating of the separators, used in lithium ion batteries.
