It seems to be that a large number of Aussie punters, if not most, can only conceive of success for an Aussie company as being taken over by an overseas company. This really troubles me as yet another sign of the good old Aussie cultural cringe at play. They can't get their head around success being in the form of a growing international company that may be a leader in its field and grow so large it needs to spin off dividends when the cash flows become so large the company can't invest it quick enough in other projects. LNG Ltd could easily become the latter form of success - like BHP, RIO, Fortescue, Woodside, CSL etc.

My only concern that I may not realise a really large capital gain over time and a dividend stream with my long term and growing investment in LNG Ltd is that it becomes subject to a premature takeover. However, we have some significant investors, including the founders, that account for more than 20% of LNG Ltd and that can block a takeover unless a pretty significant price was tendered, and I can't see them letting go their holdings for under $5/ordinary share in the short term and even more $/share as LNG progresses with BTA's, FID etc for both Magnolia and Bear Head.
