Usually fake bids are there so people buy in to that person's sell order. I.e. MUS was 5.1 bid & 5.2 offer for example. Huge fake bids at 5.1 & 5.0 entice people to buy all available at 5.2 which is usually the fake bidders sell order. Then when their order is sold, they remove the fake bids b/c they don't really want the stock...

happens all the time & is something to look out for.
