Speculating is difficult at the best of times, but for what it's worth, my feeling is a placement in the US. The strategy for the past year has been moving away from OZ where the sentiment is too hard to deal with. IBS isn't in trouble - well respected, small, but growing revenues etc. Having bought it outright one would therefore think UNI isn't in trouble. Thus the announcement can only be to do with growth, or funding growth. If it's funding growth, why come back to a small retail market that has by and large treated you with contempt? Why not go to the big market where the money is truly to be made, a market which understands your story and has a much better understanding of risk/venture capital?

And at the risk, Sleep, of being seen to engage in postive spin, UNI have a team of financial advisors in place who they have been working with for some time now, and of whom they made special mention in the most recent update with regard to thanking for their help and continuing to work with in the future. If UNI was ever going to crack the big time, it was never going to happen just in Oz. The market simply doesn't justify it. The big picture is global. And even if it's only, say, 10% market share, when you're talking a multi billion US$ market, it's still a pretty big picture.

P.S. Has anybody given any thought as to why Dr. Gerrard Verrolet, formerly of the WHO, and in charge of sharps etc. bothered to renew his contract with UNI two years ago? Check the announcement. "I've never been more confident than I am now that Unilife is positioned to become a world leader in the sharps market," or words to that effect. Must be just about due for a further renewal.

Every once in a while I find it a useful exercise to read the past couple of year's announcements of a company you're interested in. Since bottoming at 17 cents, my take on UNI, Alan Shortall relationship issues aside, is of a company that is doing everything it has said it will do, and more. Maybe it's not for everyone, but I'm happy to be in.
