As I said I'm no expert but I really don't see it being "major stuff" to get the ethane out. It's standard gas processing to remove heavies from rich gas to get it to pipeline spec, so it really should just be putting a bolt-on addition to the existing processing.
Just doing some googling I am finding things like this company which offers modular pre-fab ethane-stripping equipment for gas plants:

As I said earlier there are also LPG plants, like the one AGL has at Silver Springs near Roma to strip heavies out. That would cost more but would also give an extra income stream.
It would be a good question to ask the company at the next CPSA presentation or similar. What plant upgrades are needed to get Mereenie gas to east coast pipeline spec and how much is it likely to cost?
