It's not that generic, it's a statement about the chemicals industry. A company operating in the chemicals industry needs to understand timeframes selling new chemical solutions and consider the required effort for business development in previously unpenetrated sectors, product testing, incorporating a new chemical in manufacturing processes, etc. They were obviously too optimistic and didn't fully appreciate these time frames themselves which translated into setting expectations that were not realistic from the get-go.
We also don't know if they solely missed their target because companies wanted to expand the product range. I mean, was that 1 customer, multiple? What were the $s? This is wishful thinking.
Again, personally I'm comfortable with where the company is at and not too concerned about missing its 2016 targets. My point is that they did in fact set certain expectations and time frames that were not met.
My 2c. And we don't need to drag this discussion out any further. I'm pretty happy to agree to disagree, and just want to ensure the optimistic voices here on HC still have a realistic/balanced view on the company.
