My take is that he did not insult Australia -he actually lurrrrrves Australia!!

He may arguably have insulted a useless, lousy politician who decided to take unfair advantage of the US alliance (in the circumstances eg a pending election) just to make himself look good and get out of a jam!!

Malcolm took a calculated risk (I should have said wilful ignorance with scant regard for the political consequences) with a powerful ally and paid the price!! Good riddance?????
