No doubting they are both highly qualified in various commodities, but selling graphite is not the same as selling iron ore, coal, copper, uranium, etc.
Graphite is not like any other openly traded commodity - there is no exchange based market and it's not traded on the LME. The traditional way to sell graphite is directly to an end user. Moving hundreds of thousands of tonnes of coal, for example, is quite different to moving that same volumes of graphite.
"to take Syrah to the next level, to sell more product, and to eliminate the competition"
Didn't BHP and RIO try and do that with iron ore - eliminate the likes of FMG and others? Didn't work - FMG has emerged even stronger.
Why don't we just say..."to take Syrah to the next level, to sell more product"
Let's also not forget who the competition currently is - China. Do you really think they will allow SYR to "eliminate" them? I don't think so!
