BD's FY 2017 end is actually 31st October 2017, but that's kinda irrelevant.. This year, 2017, BD Kiestra plan to release a software upgrade that allows their instruments to do exactly what APAS does: Screen urine plates for significant growth and generate a final, automated report for those with no significant growth.

That's a worry. BD Kiestra WCA/ReadA Compact plus the software upgrade is direct competition to the APAS Independence in terms of new installations and means a lab with existing BD automation wouldn't bother purchasing an APAS to complement their workflow.
Although APAS 'launched' in 2016, we haven't sold anything have we? We hope to start spruiking and selling in 2017, the same as BD Kiestra... I imagine both will be on show at the ECCMID 2017 microbiology conference.
