My version is that the Canning by election victory would have given Abbott the impetus he was needing, Labor would have binned Shorten by Christmas, Abbott would have called early on Plibersek and romped home. We'll never know.
How do you see Turnbull getting out of his current election-losing position? What are the policies, the plans, the agenda? What will Turnbull's legacy be?
This thread about Turnbull's 18 months of achievements seems to be lacking anybody actually attempting to provide any. Unsurprising. If, heaven forbid, we have a similar thread in another six months, do you think the Turnbull fans will be able to list any by then or will they still attempt to avoid the subject?
If Turnbull's most ardent supporters can still only talk about backbenchers in another six months then why is he even in charge?

Jambo, I have posted the evidence before.
Polling in Canning improved for the LNP after Abbott was dumped, prior to that LNP where only marginal ahead.
There was also a poll conducted in the week before the election that showed LNP would have lost 29 seats if Abbott was leader. The same poll gave the correct result of the election with Turnbull as leader.
