Is the CBA short of money

Having banked with the CBA for many years which started when I was in business, I had a credit card with a $25 000 limit.

Well during a conversation about other matters at the local CBA I was asked if I needed that limit? well I don't, so I said cut it to $15 000

Now I find that by mistake?? it has been cut to $3000 and to increase it I am compelled to go through the whole rigamarole of applying for a new card and supplying a full credit history which will take a few weeks.

Ever since I got my first credit card I have paid in full at the end of every month and monthly use is usually about $4k to $5k

The banks suggestion is that I turn it into a debit card !!!!

So my thought is -- is this happening throughout the system, because the last change was that money that is held on fixed deposit must now have a minimum of 30 days notice if the money is required urgently.

Therefore the CBA is reducing it's exposure ------ WHY WHY

I did read some time ago that the CBA only needed to have 16% of it's mortgages go bad for the bank to fail, has that situation become worse ?

I sold all my bank stocks a short time ago, it appears that it was a very wise move

From my general research banks it appears that banks are under pressure so with moves such as this IMHO the dangers appear to be real
