Great to see your “defense” related post “Sabre1973” re the relationship of SSG Directors with the global defense hierarchy.

These guys have scored multiple goals over the years and are held in very high esteem, not only in Israel but in other major countries where defense is a highly technical and innovative industry, expending MEGA dollars annually.

Just today I was doing some research into the US Dept of Defense (DOD) and found “SNaP”. Nanosatellite Program, or SNaP is a future Army satellite communication to empower Soldiers. SNaP will be a small satellite communications (SATCOM) constellation. It provides data and over-the-horizon communications capabilities. It will allow communications across great distances, using existing ultra-high frequency (UHF) tactical radios.

“USASMDC/ARSTRAT is developing nanosatellite and small satellite technologies to support technology demonstrations showing how these satellites could be used to support the Soldier on the battlefield.
60-70% of today's Army systems depend upon space to perform their mission. On the modern battlefield; if the Army wants to shoot, move or communicate the Army must have space-enabled capabilities.”

The first three SNaP nanosats were launched on 8th Oct 2015 – they were called, Alice, Eddie & Jimi. The test flight was not all that successful. They lost total contact with Alice until March 2016, when she ‘re-appeared'. As a consequence initial testing could only be carried out with Eddie & Jimi during Feb – March 2016. Both had power issues, especially Jimi who had to be rebooted several times each day. They also suffered issues that prevented them from maintaining the desired altitude. These issued severely limited checking and testing.

My understanding is that the monitoring & controlling of the SNaP nanos has to be done from ground stations. The SNaP nanosats are not autonomous i.e have the ability to ‘talk’ with one another and make their own independent adjustments to maintain themselves in perfect constellation format, like ours are.

That brings me to the whole point of this particular post.

Given the close and highly respected association of SSG directors with the global defense community, I see it very possible that some JV or association be formed that allows SSG to monitor and/ or position control defense nanosats from various countries.

An order or some form of ‘paid’ service to monitor satellites seems almost a no-brainer to me! A country like the US who has obvious military space needs and ever growing ambitions, seems a very likely contender, especially where it appears to be falling short of the expertise to achieve their goals as apparent in the SNaP program.

“The Air Force is asking for a budget of $8.9 billion in FY 2017 in order to keep its satellite assembly lines operating, improve space situational awareness capabilities and conduct five rocket launches for DOD. For FY 2018, expect a request for significant increases due to the next wave of new programs.”

A small slice of that $8.9billion is not out of the question IMO, particularly if it advances the US DOD needs and gives them an upper hand.

As I have mentioned in several previous posts SSG has multiple revenue stream potentials in a variety of diverse global industries valued in the billions. An order from a major global DOD could be worth mega millions to SSG.
