Cortis, Excuse my butting in but you make some remarks that you might only apply because the Liberal Party is in office and not perhaps if it were some other party. It works both ways as you would well know so previous Prime Ministers even Malcolm Frazer or Keating or Hawke all carried out duties of PM with equal distinction even if one of them got caght with his pants down.
I distincly remember the Keating days and (like him or loathe him) he copped PLENTY of dirt!!! Mind you he could dish it out as good as he got.
What you seem to forget is that Howard (as much as he might get dished out on him) wouldn't still be there if his position was so difficult and demanding, the job consists of many benefits with a huge team to carry him. Afterall, he doesn't seem to be bothered about age catching up with him although some in the party seem to fear this.
Howard's gullibility or his Tampa-ring with the truth when it suits his agenda or circumstance such as Weapons of Mass Destruction / Children overboard / David Hicks non expedient bringing to a head.....and Iam certain I have missed some.
History will not remember him for the picture you have painted of him...... but only time will tell.
