As the the distance travelled for the average Kiwi to get to work is far less than in the Assie cities... so sure petrol maybe $1.20 (was around $1.50 when I was in aussie but I'm not going to argue with ya) But in Aussie you may need to travel perhaps twice or even three times the distance to get to work... So as a level of expenses you are worse off having to pay up to 3x the running cost to get to your preferred employment... Like I said things are all relative... I doubt you have ever lived in NZ but just visited...For arguments sake.. I like Fishing... if the weather's poor on one coastline, I can always drive an hour and a half and launch the boat on the east coast...
