In regards to cars you need to see what sort of chair he will end up in. There are many styles of vehicles and a lot of very good condition grey imports from Japan with low km but a few years old. Smart designed not avaliable here and they are done by toyota and others on production line porte rukus etc Range from cars with passenger seats that slide sideways and rotate and then become a wheelchair to small flat floored vehicles that you wheel into the back. Lots depends on how long you are in the vehicle as many larger vans are set up for different patient types. If you end up with a electric chair you can buy ones with modular bases that have connection points for locking down in vehicles etc so it isn't a pain time you take him out.

    heals up and recovers quickly.

PS if you have a low usage of the vehicle or only daytime and have a family member with spare time consider ubering it in its free time.. There is a distinct lack of accessible vehicles and a really varied clientele from elderly to young off to parties, business etc etc
Links to cars being imported as grey imports from Japan usually via south australia are on gumtree but a google will get you to them. There is a lot of very good vehicle modifiers as well but some are priced as they know so much of it is grant or compo money.
