The initial investigation into Hanson may have been politicaly motivated or a witch hunt

The facts are though

- Charges would not have been laid if there was not evidence laws had not been broken

- Once in court Hanson had all the same opportunity as any one else charged with a crime does to defend the charges.

- The guilty verdict was decided by a jury, a jury that the defence and the prosecution have input in selecting

- I will agree the sentence does appear severe when compared to some sentences handed out but it is also in line with sentences handed out in most fraud type cases where there has been a breach of trust.

So all this talk about Hanson upsetting groups or individuals (which she clearly did) and this whole episode is some form of payback is just garbage and empty rhetoric (like most of the woman's political statements) unless you can provide some thing to back it up.

There was evidence she broke the law, she was charged, found guilty, sentenced END OF STORY
